Robert is an older gentleman who guesses his age to be around 60. He has lived a marginal life for most of his years, struggling with substance abuse, addictions and chronic unemployment. Whatever family he once had are all long gone. Robert has a regular panhandling spot at the West End of Georgetown in Washington, DC on M Street. When the weather isn't too cold he will shelter in place in a storefront doorway so as to catch the early commuters both coming from and going to the affluent neighborhoods and businesses in Georgetown. Robert is an affable and polite man. He seems to have a regular group of daily benefactors that enable him to get by, for which he is thankful. While Robert considers himself better off than some street people, he is still largely invisible to those who make their way to and from one of the wealthiest areas in the city.
